Some delicious color from the Port Eliot 2012 festival to contrast this muted stormy Cape morning. I am having a bed day.. with my little boy, a cup of coffee, my laptop, guitar and some Angus and Julia Stone playing in between my strumming and singing sessions.. this is absolute bliss.
But if I had to get up and get dressed, this is the exact look I would’ve liked to step out in - minus the flowers in the hair.. (How stunning is that clutch!!!)
Those who know me well will understand why this song is so very significant to me (sorry to be cryptic) and the path I did not choose many many years ago. This was made at one of those important cross-roads which you arrive at without realising the grandiosity of the decision you are making. Although I cannot have any regrets, I still don’t like the horribly selfish me I was at this place and time - I’m sure we all feel like that about ourselves at one point or another.. or many ;-)
Sometimes a song just says it all, which is why I love music and lyrics, a poetry that has resonance with one’s soul.
One of the goodbyes I mentioned in my previous post came last week by surprise - nothing sinister - just a phone call from a familiar voice of a loved one, bringing closure of one of those doors we sometimes keep open for way too long, in this case 15 years..
And as things go, when you create space in your life for something new, by letting go of something old, there is often an influx at that exact moment. Physics proves this time and time again, so not sure why am I so surprised..
Today, I am channeling my inner Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) - version bad-girl… Man, just check out how HOT these pleather skinnies from Woolworth are .. Not even Nando’s Extra Hot Peri-Peri sauce can touch these babies.
You shall be seeing my ass behind in these a lot this winter. And I’ve lost my heart to the boots too.. I’m so easy.
Oh, and just in case i’ve inspired you to go for the whole look (might be a bit much, but hey, then you could loosely throw around words like ‘bite me’ and no-one would flinch) there is a similar vibe (slightly longer) jacket too.
In the spirit of all this Grease- I’m posting one of my favourite covers-of-the-moment, 'You're the one that I want', by Angus and Julia Stone - a song that <we’ll> be performing soon. Yes, I didn’t mention that I sing in a band. Don’t laugh, you might just like us…
